The event was organized online and gathered participants from 6 European countries, including SMEs, innovators, and researchers in the field of Internet of Things (IoT). The Raw Material Radar (RMR) Consortium, funded by EIT Raw Materials, aims to promote fairer and responsible ASM mining practices in Liberia and Western Africa, by creating a new software+hardware solution for tracking raw materials combining IoT and blockchain technologies. The consortium combines the complementary experience in research and development, mining and technology of the four organizations, including Fondazione Bruno Kessler (FBK), ECTerra, Fondazione Hub Innovazione Trentino (HIT), and ‍Minespider. Volker Krümpel from Minespider presented the Consortium’s work and explained how IoT is Fostering Responsible & Fair Artisanal Small-Scale Mining in Western Africa.
